About Amanda Rippengale
The decision to become a child counsellor reflects my lifelong passion and dedication to help children grow into the best version of themselves. I believe that early intervention is key to a happier and healthier adulthood.
With over 20 years experience working in schools as an educator and now a BACP registered child counsellor, I offer a wealth of knowledge and experience to support children with their mental health.
The cutting edge, trauma-informed training I received at The Institute of Arts in Therapy and Education gave me all the tools I need to work creatively with children to help them to speak about their problems and find solutions.
I take an integrative approach to counselling sessions which means I draw on a range of different psychological theories and interventions to support the children and young person I work with. Attachment and neuroscientific theory are the main theories that underpin my work.
I also use mindfulness, relaxation techniques and emotional regulation interventions to help children and young people to become more self-aware and manage difficult emotions outside of sessions.
I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and I abide by their Code of Ethics.
